I've been wanting a felted brimmed hat for a while now so I crocheted this using a dyed ball of KnitPick's Wool of the Andes. Then I threw it in the washing machine and after three loads, a felted hat. Here's the yarn and hat, pre-felting.

Gorgeous! One of the first felted things I've seen that makes me think I'm going to have to figure out how to do it. Can I ask what pattern you used for the hat?
